The last couple of days I don't feel so well. All my muscles hurt, I'm o so tired and I have a terrible cold. So no perfume making for me these days, I spent my days sleeping and reading. The book I'm reading is Chemistry and technology of flavors and fragrances by David J.Rowe.
It's a difficult book for me to read because it discusses the technical parts of some aroma chemicals, but there is also interesting information to be found. Like the chapter about musks, I found in that chapter that L'air du Temps not only possesses musk ketone but also musk ambrette, both are restricted now. Today these musks could be replaced by muscenone and nirvanolide. I will write a post about musk the next time, when I feel a bit better.

Dear Jenny
I hope you will soon feel better again! In the mean time: Enjoy your reading and eventually you will come up with wonderful ideas with a fever brain!
Fragrant wishes
Thank you Andy, you know.. even when I don't feel well I'm still buzy with perfumes somehow, but I guess you will understand that completely.
Hey Jenny, so sorry, if I knew you were "laid up" I wouldn't have kept pestering you, lol. Meanwhile, rest, take plenty of liquids and remember the old adage: Starve a fever, Feed a COLD. So eat as much "comfort food" and chicken soup (hope you're not a vegan, lol) as possible. Now I'm on a mission to find Celery seed oil, LOL. Ciao, Frank
Hi Frank, Thank you for your advice, I don't like chickensoup though. Yesterday I didn't feel good and needed a good meal, so you're right about that, after a good meal I felt so much better. I drink a lot of orange and lemon juice so I hope it will soon be over.
Hey Jenny, well I'm glad you're feeling a bit better. You might try some tea and then some bouillon (clear broth) you can use beef or so if you don't like chicken. Also, you should drink Cranberry juice as it cleanses out your urinary tract and system so it will be beneficial in helping to eliminate any general infections or any toxic buildups. I found a site, www.perfumersworld.com where they have a lot of the chemicals you had made reference to. They have a lot of different stuff from absolutes to EOs to aroma (raw) chemicals, etc. I just placed an order with them. They are in Thailand so I don't know if they have any local offices in the USA. But the order wouldn't process over the internet so if you intend on ordering any, don't do it until I see what happens with my order. Did you finish your book yet? Have a good day, feel better and keep thinking aldehydes, esters and resinoids, LOL. Ciao, Frank
Thank you doctor Frank, thank you for your concerns.
I hope you feel better soon! Get your rest!
Thank you Vic, I will.
Feeling any better? Hi Jenny, hope you are recovering your good health. I have been jotting down the titles to the books you have been reading and one of the members of your group, Kristin, has been kind enough to share some knowledge in the process of obtaining sample, various links to manufaturers, etc. I think you have done a wonderful job with your group. It is informative, educational, practical and just plain fun. I hope that no one harbors any malice or disdain that I have been allowed to be a participant, you know now (hopefully) that my previous questions about Schiff's was totally benign. In fact I think even Mike has forgiven me, lol. Even though I "still" don't fully understand about it, lol, but I'm learning. Well thanks again, and thanks for the C. Burr articles, I posted my own interpretations on some of the statements made in the article, in favor of the apparently unrestricted approval, on the use of the synthetics in perfume formulas. Anyway, thanks again for the valuable info. Ciao, Frank
Hi Frank, yes I do feel a bit better now. I'm glad you like the perfume making group. I'm happy I started the group. It's wonderful to talk with people that share the same interest, and it's so nice to see how people help eigh other on the group.
