Update

A lot of things happened while I wasn't posting on this blog. One thing is that my hubby Mo is operated on his back for the second time. He had a double hernia in his lower back, they were huge. Two years ago he was operated as well, but it didn't work, and the hernia's came back. He was a bit afraid to do a second operation, but he simply had to, the pain was too much. He's now back at home, and he is doing pretty well. He already can walk quit a long bit, but has to lay down every time. The operation was only one and a half hour, and he could go home the next day. Now we are hoping that it will not come back and that his back will get better.

Here a photo of us when his back was a bit better:

What a lovely couple you are - together in dance. I am sure you can give each other the same support during those uneasy times as you support each other in dance.
I wish you both strength to go through, love to support it and also a smile of fortune. I hope Mo will hold you in his arms again soon.

P.S. If you'd like to talk about possible supporting measures from alternative medicine - you are welcome to contact me.

Hello Jenny,
I have come across your blog accidentally and was delighted with the amount of information here. I always loved sniffing perfumes and two years ago I was playing with the idea of studying it. I have read one or two books (my working time did not allow me much free time) but have now decided to do aromatherapy. I did not know that a think like perfumery can be done as a hobby.. i always imagined that you need a chemical laboratory of sorts... :) I will return to read more of your blog, but for now just greetings and good wishes for your hubby's recovery.

Zuzzu

Jenny said...

Thank you for your good wishes Zuzzu. Yes, you can do perfumery as a hobby. I started with it not knowing where to find other people who did the same. A world opened for me, when I decided to start a group at Yahoo about perfume making. Suddenly I realized that I wasn't the only one who made perfume as a hobby. Now the group has more than 800 members from all over the world. I learned a lot about perfumery since I started that group. You don't need a chemical laboratory to create perfumes, but you need the right materials, the fragrance materials. Essential oils can be found almost everywhere, but you have to know where to find the aroma chemicals that are used in fragrances.

You are more than welcome to join our group:

Fragrant wishes from the Netherlands!

Hi Jenny! I am starting to also make some perfumes for a hobby. I am having trouble finding aromachemicals though. Can you tell me where you buy them?

Thanks so much! great blog!

Hi Kavita,

I had the same problem finding aroma chemicals in small quantities when I started to make perfume. Now I know that there are a lot of places where you can buy them. Here are some examples:

http://www.thegoodscentscompany.com/
http://www.perfumersapprentice.com
http://www.omikron-online.de/

Good luck!

Jenny,

Here's hoping your husband heals 100 percent!

My husband had his first shoulder procedure after a soccer injury at age 40. His second at age 43. Consequently, he doesn't play soccer anymore, but the procedures were somewhat successful. It's hard for him to keep up with our 10 year old son in basketball, but then, that's okay! Let the boy shine, I say!

Lovely blog. Nice to see some familiar perfumistas on your site! Jeannemarie

Jenny said...

Hi Jeannemarie,

Well my hubby's back isn't doing so well. I hope it will heal in time, but he still has a lot of pain. I'm happy to hear that your hubby is doing much better after his surgery.

Fragrant wishes!

Hello Jenny,
I want to start a perfume line as it has always been my passion. Now the cost is alot of money which i cannot afford to put up for now. Do you have any ideas of starting out on a lower budget?
I am very impressed with your blog and its wealth of informations.

Jenny said...

Thanks all for your comments. I've been absent for a while, but I'm back.

Kalahari, to answer your question, you can buy your materials in smaller amounts. Here are some examples where you can buy your materials in small quantities.

http://www.perfumersworld.com/
and:
http://www.thegoodscentscompany.com/
and:
http://www.perfumersapprentice.com

At my Yahoo group we sometimes do 'groupbuys'. In short that means that we buy a bigger amount together, and divide it into smaller amounts.

Good luck!
